The Final Project

For the final project I was in the invention group. My work is to created an invention that solves a problem whether or not it is tangible or intangible. Then we have to devise an original solution to this defined problem. At first I wanted to create an whole new form of instrument with combination of piano and guitar. This idea was meant to let musicians who can play both piano and guitar more convenient in the occasion in which they have to play both instruments.

However, after having a little critique with my classmates about this idea, they've pointed out that there's some thing called "Keytar" that has already been there for a while and my idea was almost 100% similar to it. For this case I'll have to modify my plan and make difference.

I've had some conversations with my friends who ran underground band and they mentioned that the common problem they have is unpredictability of inspiration. Ideas of music often strike then when they don't have any proper ways to record the notes. Most people don't keep paper and pens with them the time.

For this problem I've created a devise that helps musicians or composers to record their creative inspiration when their genius moments come. It's a musical sketch book that is a portable music creation device that can be carried all the time. The form is to resemble the neck of an electric guitar and keyboard of piano. Music can be captured via the keyboard or guitar string. The flip-up touch creen give artists graphical presentation of music and allows them to manipulate elements into songs or rhythms. I put a pen next to it to suggest that it fits comfortably in a jacket pocket or bag.

Project 1: Combination of new and old furniture

The idea of this project is to find a antiquated imagery resource and recreate or alter it. Because I am interesting in designing furniture and products, I choose to model furnitures from past and modern time and then, I will try to combine them to see what interesting thing is going to happen. For the antiquated imagery source, I chose this one:
This is a classic chair design by an American furniture design in 19 century (18XX). I combined the back part of this chair with a modernly designed single sofa . I modeled legs of this chair and combine them with a glass surface to create a tea table. Here is the result of my idea:

3D Banana

Here's my banana still with blue background.

This is the array I created this weekend.

3-D screw driver

This is what I've done in Thursday's class from tutorial. My computer doesn't allow me to save my rendered image and I still can't figure why, so I just use lab computer to save this image.
